چکیده

The two vital respiratory parameters namely Oxygen consumption of the whole fish and Opercular activity in Indian Major Carp was investigated during thermal-stress Thermal-adaptation. major carp Catla catla subjected to Slow temperature change from 22 ⁰c 32⁰c (heat-adaptation) (cold -adaptation) at rate 1⁰c ̷ 60 hours showed a gradual stepping-up oxygen opercular heat-adaptation stepping-down case cold-adaptation both cases reached control values within 35 days, where as exposed abruptly (heat-stress) -stress) hour exhibited neither nor they could not reach days. Stress is physiological load acted upon fish, adaptation slow process compensation without

Modulation of TLR2, TLR4, TLR5, NOD1 and NOD2 receptor gene expressions and their downstream signaling molecules following thermal stress in the Indian major carp catla (Catla catla)

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and nucleotide binding and oligomerization domain (NOD) receptors are pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) that recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and play crucial role in innate immunity. In addition to PAMPs, PRRs recognize endogenous molecules released from damaged tissue or dead cells [damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs)] and activat...

Histopathological Effects of Bisphenol-a on Liver, Kidneys and Gills of Indian Major Carp, Catla Catla (hamilton, 1822)

Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a xenoestrogen that mimics the action of natural estrogen, estradiol-17β, and can disrupt the endocrine system. Present study was designed to investigate histopathological effects of BPA on some vital organs of major carp, Catla catla. Fish were exposed to various sub-lethal concentrations (1 to 4 ppm) of BPA in a semi-static system for 15 days. After the stipulated time, l...

Parasitic Study of Indian Major Carp Catla catla (Hamilton, 1822) in Selected Districts of West Bengal, India

The present work was conducted to isolate and identify different parasites from Indian Major Carp (IMC) Catla catla. During the study period the severity of infection and Parasitic Frequency Index (PFI, %) were also estimated in terms of months, seasons and length groups of fishes. For the investigative purpose different districts of West Bengal were selected considering the potential of fisher...

Genetic variation of wild and hatchery populations of the catla Indian major carp (Catla catla Hamilton 1822: Cypriniformes, Cyprinidae) revealed by RAPD markers

Genetic variation is a key component for improving a stock through selective breeding programs. Randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers were used to assess genetic variation in three wild population of the catla carp (Catla catla Hamilton 1822) in the Halda, Jamuna and Padma rivers and one hatchery population in Bangladesh. Five decamer random primers were used to amplify RAPD markers...

Isolation, Purification and Characterization of Secondary Structure and Kinetic Study of Lipase from Indian Major Carp, Catla catla (Catla)

Lipases (E.C. 3.1.1.3) can be broadly defined as enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of ester bonds in substrates such as vitamin esters, phospholipids, triglycerides (TGs) and cholesteryl esters [1]. Interest in lipases has been increasing in the past few years because of the actual and potential uses of this enzyme in applications like hydrolysis of fats and oils, organic synthesis, modifica...
